Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Pinnawala – Habarana

Arrive in Sri Lanka and receive a warm welcome from your local guide. Travel to Habarana, stopping en route at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to observe rescued elephants in a natural setting. Enjoy an elephant-back ride before checking in at your hotel.

Day 2: Habarana – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Minneriya – Habarana

Begin with a morning ascent of Sigiriya Rock Fortress for panoramic views. Continue to Polonnaruwa, exploring ancient ruins nestled in verdant surroundings. In the afternoon, opt for a safari in Minneriya National Park, renowned for its wild elephant gatherings.

Day 3: Habarana – Dambulla – Kandy

Travel south, pausing at the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site adorned with ancient murals. Continue to the hill city of Kandy, set beside a scenic lake and surrounded by lush forests.

Day 4: Kandy – Peradeniya – Kandy

Stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, famed for their vast collection of tropical flora. Return to Kandy for an evening at leisure or a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

Day 5: Kandy

Enjoy a free day in Kandy. Choose from optional nature walks, a visit to Udawattakele Forest Reserve, or cultural experiences in the city.

Day 6: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Ascend into the cool, misty hills of Nuwara Eliya, passing emerald tea plantations and cascading waterfalls. Tour a working tea factory and savor the region’s renowned Ceylon tea.

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains – Nuwara Eliya

Embark on an early morning trek through Horton Plains National Park. Witness the dramatic escarpment of World’s End and the beauty of Baker’s Falls before returning to Nuwara Eliya.

Day 8: Nuwara Eliya – Ella

Travel by road or train to Ella, a picturesque town surrounded by rolling hills and cloud forests. Enjoy the scenic journey and explore Ella’s charming village atmosphere.

Day 9: Ella – Yala – Kataragama

Descend to the southern plains, visiting Ravana Falls along the way. Continue to Yala National Park for an afternoon jeep safari, seeking leopards, elephants, and a variety of birdlife. Overnight in Yala or nearby Kataragama.

Day 10: Yala – Galle – Bentota

Journey along the southern coast, stopping to explore the historic Galle Fort. Arrive in Bentota for an evening of relaxation on the beach.

Day 11: Bentota – Ambalangoda – Bentota

Visit the Ambalangoda Mask Museum and the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, dedicated to sea turtle conservation. Enjoy a boat ride on the Madu Ganga River, winding through mangroves and islets.

Day 12: Bentota – Colombo

Travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s vibrant capital. Explore city highlights, bustling markets, and colonial architecture, or relax with some last-minute shopping.

Day 13: Colombo – Departure

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward journey, carrying with you memories of Sri Lanka’s wild wonders.
