Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Pinnawala – Habarana

Arrive in Sri Lanka and receive a warm welcome. On your way to Habarana, stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to witness rescued elephants. Enjoy an elephant-back ride in Habarana and settle in at your hotel. Sample your first Sri Lankan dinner, featuring fragrant curries and coconut sambol.

Day 2: Habarana – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Minneriya – Habarana

After breakfast, visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Enjoy a village lunch in Habarana, prepared in a traditional clay kitchen. Explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and, optionally, embark on a Minneriya safari. Return to Habarana for a dinner of local rice and curry specialties.

Day 3: Habarana – Kandy

Travel to Kandy, stopping at a spice garden to learn about Sri Lanka’s essential spices. Participate in a hands-on cooking demonstration and enjoy lunch with a local family. In Kandy, savor street food like kottu roti and hoppers at the city’s bustling markets.

Day 4: Kandy – Peradeniya – Kandy

Stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens and visit a tea museum. Enjoy a traditional Kandyan lunch and, in the evening, witness a cultural dance show followed by a dinner featuring regional delicacies.

Day 5: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Journey into the highlands, visiting a tea estate and factory. Sample freshly brewed Ceylon tea and enjoy a colonial-style lunch in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 6: Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains – Yala

Early morning trek in Horton Plains National Park, followed by a picnic breakfast. Continue to Yala, stopping for a farm-to-table lunch en route. Evening at leisure with a seafood dinner.

Day 7: Yala – Galle – Bentota

Safari in Yala National Park, then travel to the coastal city of Galle. Explore Galle’s Dutch Fort and enjoy a seafood feast at a local restaurant. Arrive in Bentota for the night.

Day 8: Bentota – Ambalangoda – Bentota

Visit the Ambalangoda Mask Museum and the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery. Take part in a coastal cooking class, learning to prepare fresh fish curry and coconut roti. Enjoy your creations for lunch. Afternoon at leisure on Bentota’s beaches.

Day 9: Bentota – Colombo

Travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s vibrant capital. Embark on a guided street food safari-sample isso wade, egg hoppers, and sweet treats at Galle Face Green and Pettah Market. Celebrate your journey with a farewell dinner at a renowned Colombo restaurant.

Day 10: Colombo – Departure

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward journey, departing with delicious memories of Sri Lanka’s culinary treasures.
