Itinerary
Arrive in Sri Lanka and receive a warm welcome. Transfer to Anuradhapura, the cradle of Sinhalese Buddhist civilization and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Begin your pilgrimage with a sightseeing tour, including the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree, believed to be the oldest living human-planted tree in the world and a direct descendant of the Bodhi tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment. Overnight in Anuradhapura.
Visit the towering Aukana Buddha statue before heading to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO World Heritage site and key Buddhist pilgrimage destination. Explore its remarkable stupas, temples, and Buddha statues, then transfer to Habarana.
Continue your spiritual journey to Sigiriya, where you can visit the iconic rock fortress and nearby Buddhist sites. Overnight in Sigiriya.
Travel to Kandy, stopping at significant Buddhist sites along the way. Kandy is home to the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which houses one of Buddhism’s most sacred relics. Experience the spiritual ambiance and, if possible, attend a daily puja ceremony to glimpse the golden casket containing the relic.
Spend the day in Kandy, visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and exploring the city’s monastic and cultural treasures. Optional: Arrange a meditation or yoga session to deepen your spiritual experience.
Journey through the scenic highlands to Nuwara Eliya, with stops at Buddhist temples and, optionally, the Hakgala Botanical Garden, renowned for its serene setting and diverse plant life.
Travel to Colombo, stopping at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, one of the island’s most venerated temples, believed to have been visited by the Buddha himself. In Colombo, visit the Gangaramaya Temple to view the hair relics of Lord Buddha, preserved and venerated by devotees.
After breakfast, enjoy a brief city tour of Colombo or further temple visits before transferring to the airport for your onward journey.
